Playing outside our comfort zones (Ep. 14)

This weekâs episode was inspired by TRYBE blog post I wrote months ago that happened to pop back into my life (and is very apropos) - check it out.
Getting Unstuck - Redefining Success as a Means for Change
THE CULPRITâŠ
Playing it Safe đŠș
Picture this - doing your daily scrolling when you get caught into a new channel and sucked into hours of motivational videos on YouTube and they have you feeling spicy đ„ - THATâS IT, Iâm going to find a new job, start that side gig, write a book, file my taxes and FINALLY ask that girl out Iâve been vibing with. The (un)comfort(able) zone
Playing it safe might seem like the logical choice to avoid failure or discomfort and also what weâve been taught BUT (thereâs always a but) it often leads to just overall stuckness and missed opportunities. But ALSO it kinda feels soooo good - it provides a sense of familiarity, security, and predictability, shielding us from the uncertainties and challenges that come with stepping into the unknown. So donât feel bad about feeling bad, itâs human nature and itâs part of the game we call life.

THE SHIFTâŠ
Playing it Responsibly Safe đ
Hear me out, responsible safety is KINDA sexy. Itâs stepping outside your comfort zone but not off a bridge. Itâs about making waves without making tsunamis. Itâs about balling so hard, but not balling TOO hard. Stepping outside of our comfort zones can be daunting, but it's where true magic happens. That dream job, that dream relationship, that dream lifestyle - it all comes from taking action so buckle up and letâs goooo already! | ![]() taking a dip |
Unlock Your Full Potential
Taking risks isn't just about the thrill of adventure (but if it was, I would be totally sold); When we start taking responsible risks, our brains release dopamine, generating excitement and motivation. This surge boosts our mood and enhances our confidence, empowering us to tackle challenges. It also helps to rewire our brains to be more open to new opportunities and experiences. And soon youâll realize the fear of âdoing itâ versus the actual âdoing itâ is what was most challenging part of that journey.

THE TOOLSâŠ
See What Sticks
1 // Talk to Someone Whoâs Been There
Change is always hard, even if itâs good change and itâs perfectly normal to want some validation that things will be ok. A great place to start is to talk to someone who may be living the life you want, or has taken âthe riskâ youâre considering and get the full deets on their journey. The more you talk to folks who have been there, done that the less daunting and isolating the ride will feel.
2 // Visualize
We cannot stress the benefits of visualization for these kinda anxiety-rising moments of our lives. Building a successful practice of quieting the mind and visualizing yourself making the decision youâre contemplating and seeing your life unfold while FEELING what it would feel like does two things. It helps build new neural pathways that essentially help squash the doubt in your mind AND it better prepares you to face challenges when they do arise.
3 // Just Do It
Honestly JUST DO IT. Of course depending what youâre making a change on, but sometimes the best way to do it is to cannon ball into the cold water, feel the shock and giggle like a kid as you come-to and realize it wasnât that bad, itâs kinda fun and you may even feel proud for just doing it.
