Messy Beds, Messy Minds, Messy Day 🛏️
How making your bed leads to a better day AND higher chances of being a millionaire! (Ep. 8)

THE CULPRIT…
Messy Bed, Messy Mind 🌀
It's 7:00 AM, you reluctantly peel yourself out of the warmth of your covers. You leave your bed in disarray - tangled blankets, pillows under and over the covers and a missing teddy (…people still sleep with teddy’s right?!) | ![]() …hot mess for real. |
Avoiding Bed Dread Head
Research suggests that starting your day with a neatly made bed does some wonderful things to your mindset, productivity, and overall well-being. By creating a sense of order and accomplishment in the morning, you're signalling to your brain for a more organized and focused day ahead. When you return home to a neatly made bed, your brain perceives your environment as more peaceful and conducive to relaxation, promoting better sleep quality and overall well-being.

THE SHIFT…
Rise to the Occasion 🛏️
It's time to elevate your morning routine with a simple yet powerful habit: making your bed (was that an obvious drop!?). By making your bed each morning, you're not just tidying up your physical space; you're also tidying your mind with a tone of intentionality and productivity AND PLOT TWIST - increasing your chances of becoming a millionaire by 206% - the studies don’t lie people. | ![]() More like HAWT mess. |
Tidy Beds = Gateway to Riches
Jordan Peterson says it best, so I’ll drop his line right in here
“Making your bed is a way to practice creating order out of chaos.
This may seem like a surprising correlation, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Making your bed is a simple task, but it is one that requires discipline, consistency, and attention to detail. These are all qualities that are essential for success in any field.
If we can’t even take the time to make our own bed, how can we expect to achieve great things?”

THE TOOLS…
See What Sticks
1 // No Coffee For You
Try the reward hack used in many habit building programs. If you love your morning coffee, try using it as a reward. “I don’t get my morning coffee until I make my bed”. This small simple trick builds a small rewards system in your brain that will eventually turn your bed making routine a no brainer response.
2 // Simplify Your Bedding
Do to your bed what Steve Jobs did to his wardrobe: Simplify. Invest in bedding that's easy to tidy up. Opt for duvet covers and sheets that are quick to straighten out, making the task of making your bed less daunting. And if you MUST, I suppose you can ditch 7 of the 14 pillows (looking at you, House and Home model students).
3 // Set a Reminder
Begin by setting a daily reminder to make your bed as part of your morning ritual - throw it on your phone or your calendar. This sounds overkill but it’s amazing what an annoying phone or Gcal notification can do to the soul.
